Ms.Jacobs:
I read with absolute and utter amazement your one sided attack piece on "Muslims/Palestinians" today in the Toronto Sun and felt compelled to reply, just so that you are aware that not all of us are compelled to acquiesce to the constant Zionist lie machine that is such an integral part of the Western and shamefully, the Canadian media.
Many more Canadians, including Jewish Canadians, are starting to feel the same way about Israel and Zionist journalists like yourself who present their one sided views, day after day without so much as a opportunity for retort from the other perspective.
You talk about how "hatred" from "extremist Muslims". Lets take a little look at the hatred that emanates from Israel and its representatives.
Lets start with former Israeli President Moshe Katsav:
"There is a huge gap between us and our enemies, not just in ability but in morality, culture, sanctity of life, and conscience. They are our neighbors here, but it seems as if at a distance of a few hundred meters away, there are people who do not belong to our continent, to our world, but actually belong to a different galaxy." The Jerusalem Post, May 10, 2001
Sounds pretty racist and intolerant to me.
Or maybe we can ask heroic Israeli President Golda Meir about the "so-called" Palestinians:
"There was no such thing as Palestinians, they never existed." Golda Maier Israeli Prime Minister June 15, 1969
Hence, the push in recent years by radical Zionists to delegitimize Palestinians by pretending that they are mere legends, as you so eloquently put it.
Yes, indeed, Jacobs, as you see, the "Muslims" are not the only party that has extremists, no.
Zionist extremists such as Rabbi Yaacov Perrin, quoted in the New York Times on February 28,1994 on page 1:
"One million Arabs are not worth a Jewish fingernail."
In 1949 the United Nations counted 711,000 Palestinian refugees. But according to your first Prime Minister they don't exist.
In 2005, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency estimated 4.25 million Palestinians and their descendants were refugees from their homeland.
The Israeli policy of evicting non-Jews has continued for six decades. On June 19, 2008, the Laity Committee in the Holy Land reported in Window Into Palestine that the Israeli Ministry of Interior is taking away the residency rights of Jerusalem Christians who have been reclassified as "visitors in their own city."
- On December 10, 2007, MK Ephraim Sneh boasted in the Jerusalem Post that Israel had achieved "a true Zionist victory" over the UN partition plan "which sought to establish two nations in the land of Israel." The partition plan had assigned Israel 56 percent of Palestine, leaving the inhabitants with only 44 percent. But Israel had altered this over time. Sneb proudly declared: "When we complete the permanent agreement, we will hold 78 percent of the land while the Palestinians will control 22 percent."
- Sneb could have added that the 22 percent is essentially a collection of unconnected ghettos cut off from one another and from roads, water, medical care, and jobs. (courtesy of Paul Craig Roberts former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury 1981-1985)
You want to talk about tribal, medieval barbarism? Well, On February 8, 1988, Newsweek magazine quoted an Israeli soldier: " We got orders to knock on every door, enter and take out all the males. The younger ones we lined up with their faces against the wall, and soldiers beat them with billy clubs. This was no private initiative, these were orders from our company commander. . . . After one soldier finished beating a detainee, another soldier called him 'you Nazi,' and the first man shot back: 'You bleeding heart.' When one soldier tried to stop another from beating an Arab for no reason, a fist fight broke out." In the London Sunday Times, June 19, 1977, Ralph Schoenman, executive director of the Bertrand Russell Foundation, wrote: "Israeli interrogators routinely ill-treat and torture Arab prisoners. Prisoners are hooded or blindfolded and are hung by their wrists for long periods. Most are struck in the genitals or in other ways sexually abused. Most are sexually assaulted. Others are administered electric shock." A recent Amnesty International report concluded that "there is no country in the world in which the use of official and sustained torture is as well established and documented as in the case of Israel."
So, Ms. Jacobs, as you can see, and I have provided ample examples, while Muslim extremism most certainly does exist, those of us in the know realize that this extremism is also present on the other side of the coin, and in spades. There are two sides to every story, and despite your attempts to ensure that Canadians remain unaware, there are thousands of us who now feel compelled to speak up when we see examples of such poor, one sided editorial. Unfortunately, the opposite side is rarely either given the opportunity nor even permitted to have their side of the story addressed, which is one of the reasons why print media is becoming a slowly dying dinosaur.
Your attempt today to demonize and dehumanize Palestinians as the ones responsible for the inability of the Americans to achieve a lasting peace in the region is sad at best. I doubt anyone will be hearing the other side of the story in any of your columns anytime soon, yet you continue to call yourself a journalist. You are nothing more than a mouthpiece for one sided, disgusting propaganda. How DARE YOU point fingers at the Palestinian people and call for a change of attitude while completely ignoring the hatred that emanates from the leadership of Israel.
