911 Fact of the Day (#3)

On the morning of 911, NORAD was in day two of a week long terrorist drill called "Vigilant Guardian". The exercise was a simulation of an attack on the WTC, using hijacked airliners. On the morning of September 11th 2001, for the first time in history, a Vice President was in charge of NORAD operations. That person was Dick Cheney, who in June 2001, ordered Donald Rumsfeld to remove control of NORAD operations from military staff.
